How To Beautify Your Body With Organic Scrubs When On A Budget

Homemade organic body scrubs are just one of the many ways you can treat yourself to excellent skin care without spa prices. With these scrubs, not only will your skin be cleansed and exfoliated, but regular use improves circulation and pulls toxins from the skin.

In the following 7 recipes, it is important to use organic ingredients so that you are not absorbing other toxins through the skin. Most ingredients can be found in health food stores and are readily available online. ALL of these scrubs should be used in the bath or shower and should be followed by patting your skin dry and applying an organic moisturizer for overall skin care.

Awesome Dry Skin Scrub

This mixture should be made up and stored in a quarter sized airtight container (Mason Jars are great) for easy use when you want it. You will just need to take about 3/4 cup and mix with enough distilled water to make a paste when you are ready to use it in the shower, gently rubbing over your body.

Ingredients

tablespoons organic almond meal

4 cups organic chickpea flour

2 cups organic dry milk powder

1 1/2 teaspoons rose essential oil (essential oils can be found in health food stores and on the internet, just be sure that they are produced from organically produced base plants)

Apple fresh Body Scrub

This organic skin scrub should be made up at least 10 hours before use, but not longer than 1 week. Two applications are made with this recipe, allowing you to use one soon and one at the end of the week. In a large, microwave safe bowl, warm the cream (10 to 20 seconds). Add ingredients in the following order and stir with each one added: apple juice, honey, oats, tapioca, Epsom Salt, lavender oil, and lemon peel oil. Pour into airtight container and refrigerate for at least 10 hours before first use.

Ingredients

2 cup Epsom salts

1/2 cup freshly juiced organic apple juice

1 teaspoon organic lavender essential oil

1/2 teaspoon organic lemon peel essential oil

2 tablespoons organic honey

1/2 cup organic tapioca pearls

1/4 cup organic whole rolled oats, crush slightly by pounding while in a zippered storage bag

3/4 cup organic whipping cream

Invigorating Renewal Scrub

This scrub is revitalizing for both your skin and your energy level. The recipe makes enough for two applications and should be used within 10 days of creation. Mix all ingredients well and store in refrigerator.

Ingredients

2 cups organic chopped oats

Organic essential oils: 4 drops peppermint, 3 drops eucalyptus

2/3 cup organic moisturizer (our homemade milk lotions are great for this)

2 cups Epsom Salt

Lemony Sweet Brown Sugar Scrub

This scrub should be mixed just prior to use because the sugar crystals break down too quickly for later use. It is from these crystals that you get the exfoliating properties.

Ingredients

1/2 cup organic brown sugar

1 1/2 cups organic grape seed oil

1/2 cup organic grated lemon peel

Lemon Fresh Body Scrub

Lemon juice is the major attraction in this recipe as it not only rejuvenates the skin; it detoxifies it. Like all sugar recipes, these ingredients should be mixed just prior to use because the sugar crystals will break down quickly.

Ingredients

3/4 cup organic sugar

Fresh juice from 1 organic lemon

1 1/2 cups organic olive oil

Creamy Orange Body Scrub

This is another sugar recipe, so remember to mix all ingredients just before use and do not attempt to store it. The use of cream in this recipe is a great moisture help, so enjoy! Massage this mixture onto your body and allow to sit for about 15 minutes before you shower. It works best when applied in a steamy bathroom.

Ingredients

Organic essential oils: 8 drops orange and 2 drops jojoba

3 tablespoons heavy organic cream

3/4 cup sugar

Tutti Frutti Body Scrub

This is an excellent summer scrub for combating those drying effects of the sun. Due to preservation issues and the fact that the Epsom Salt will dissolve quickly, you should mix this just prior to use. Apply prior to turning shower on, but while standing in the bathtub. Massage over body thoroughly, preferably with a body puff, then rinse in warm shower. This works as a cleanser, so you will not need to cleanse your body after using this scrub.

1 1/2 teaspoons pure organic vanilla extract

3 tablespoons organic vegetable oil

2 teaspoons organic vitamin E oil

Ingredients

1/2 cup Aloe Vera pulp (taken directly from plant)

3 teaspoons Epsom Salt

1/4 cup organic facial cleanser

1 peeled guava (put through food processor or mashed if soft enough)

1 peeled kiwi (mashed)

Tutti Frutti Body Scrub

This is an excellent summer scrub for combating those drying effects of the sun. Due to preservation issues and the fact that the Epsom Salt will dissolve quickly, you should mix this just prior to use. Apply prior to turning shower on, but while standing in the bathtub.

Massage over body thoroughly, preferably with a body puff, then rinse in warm shower. This works as a cleanser, so you will not need to cleanse your body after using this scrub.

1 1/2 teaspoons pure organic vanilla extract

Whole Foods, Organic Supplements and Feeding the Machine That is Your Body

Where do you get your nutrition from? I was talking to a guy at the gym yesterday and he was telling me about his fitness routine. He comes into the gym three days a week and does twenty minutes of cardio and hits the free weights for about a half an hour and then he showers and heads back to work (or home or wherever.) He’s an ‘older’ gentleman in his sixties, and is in pretty good shape, but he told me that he just can’t seem to lose those last ten pounds to get to his goal weight.

He has outstanding results so far. He has lost 40 pounds over the course of two years, but he hit a plateau on hasn’t made much progress in the past few months. I talked to him a bit about muscle weight versus fat weight. Muscles weighs more per square inch than fat does, so you can gain muscle, become leaner, but stay at the same weight. He hadn’t really thought about that and it put a positive spin on his plateau. I’m not saying that staying at the same weight means you are losing fat and gaining muscle; that’s not really common unless someone is hitting the resistance training pretty hard, and eating right.

That last part is the kicker. Your diet is the greatest contributing factor to your fitness program and dictates what your body can do. Think about the food you eat and compare it to the fuel you put in your car. If you go to the gas station and fill up your tank with unleaded, you’ll have efficient fuel economy and a smooth running car. If you put high octane in there, you may get a little better performance, but not necessarily. However, if you put diesel in your tank, the car is going to have major issues and unless it’s a multi-fuel vehicle, it’s going to need major mechanical work to get back on the road.

Junk food is like diesel fuel for your body. If you put a bunch of junk in your tank, it’s going to impact your performance and your fitness levels. Diet and nutrition are 90% of a fitness program. That’s why Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig and programs like that can get you results if all you eat is their food. It’s total control of that 90% factor. The problem with those programs is that you are losing fat and muscle, which is not a good thing.

So what are you doing to fuel your body? The best thing you can do is to eat as close to nature as possible. The less processed foods you eat, the better it is for you. Whole natural foods such as fruits and vegetables fuel you up and contain lots of nutrition. You also need to make sure you are getting enough protein in your diet to support, among other things, muscle growth. I also highly recommend a multi-vitamin/multi-mineral supplement, because it is impossible to get all the nutrients your body needs through diet alone. I will also drop a hint here that the most popular vitamins (the ones you are bombarded with though television advertisements) are not a very good choice. The best choices are vitamins that are bio-available, meaning they get processed and absorbed into your bloodstream and are available to your body. Many of the large name brand vitamins pass right through your system without getting absorbed.

The right food choices will make a huge impact on your quest for better health.

Overcome Infertility – How Vitamin C Affects Fertility

As we mentioned in previous articles, infertility is defined as inability of a couple to conceive after 12 months of unprotected sexual intercourse. It effects over 5 millions couple alone in the U. S. and many times more in the world. Because of unawareness of treatment, only 10% seek help from professional specialists. Nutritional supplements play an important and vital role in treating fertility, in this article we will discuss how vitamin C effects fertility.

1. Reproductive organs

Vitamin C helps to strengthen the capillaries, thereby decreasing the risk of internal blood leaking, leading to increasing blood flow to the reproductive organ including the penis and uterus, thereby, decreasing the chance of erectile dysfunction in men and decreasing the risk of egg fertilization failure.

2. Antioxidant

It is also one of the powerful antioxidants that helps the immune system in guarding our body against any invasion of bacteria and virus, thereby decreasing the risks of infection and inflammation to the reproductive organs.

3. Nutrients

By assisting the digestive system in absorbing vital vitamins and minerals, vitamin C helps to increase nutrients to our body cell, resulting in decreasing the risk of infertility caused by nutrients deficiency.

4. Testicle cancer

A new Danish study reported at Johns Hopkins InteliHealth on February 26, 1999 found that deficiency of vitamin C not only increases the risk of testicle cancer but also decreases the chance of fertility

5. Antibody antigen

Since vitamin C plays an important role in assisting immune system fighting against formingof free radicals, it also helps to reduce the risk of abnormal function of a certain class of protein of immune system which binds to the sperm and allows other immune cells to attack them.

Give Your Body the Nutrition it Needs With Whole Food Vitamins

Taking vitamins and supplements by pill has long been advocated by doctors and nutritionists in the health world – particularly in the realm of natural or holistic health. Unfortunately, many people take the wrong approach to ensuring their body gets the vitamins and nutrients it needs. What many don’t realize is that the human body works best when digesting whole foods that include all the important vitamins – not just the vitamin itself. Thankfully, whole food vitamins and supplements can provide a healthier and better way!

When reading that Vitamin C found in many citrus fruits and vegetables helps to boost the immune system, you might be tempted to rush out and buy the latest Vitamin C tablet at a local discount or drug store. But when taking Vitamin C as an isolated vitamin, your body is missing out on a more complex source of nutrition that is produced only through consuming whole foods. In other words, it’s not just the Vitamin C that contributes to a boost in your immune system or other health benefits; it’s the entire process of eating and digesting whole foods. This process can only be matched by taking whole food vitamins and supplements.

What are Whole Food Vitamins?

Whole food vitamins are just the opposite of synthetic isolated vitamins. They are high-density concentrates of real whole foods processed by drying the whole foods and turning them into a powder form, which is then encapsulated so we can take the food as a pill. Whole food supplements contain all the cofactors and micronutrients found in whole foods, thereby providing a more complex source of nutrition than the vitamin supplements created in a lab.

With more than 25,000 different micronutrients, or cofactors, being contained in whole fruits and vegetables, it’s no wonder citizens in our Western society find it difficult to consume the number of nutrients needed for optimal health. And synthetic vitamin supplements simply don’t meet the complex nutritional needs of the body as do whole foods. By consuming whole food vitamins, you are getting the vitamins your body needs and providing an easy way for your body to process these vitamins. In a world of fast food and processed meals, these can be a lifesaver!

The Creation Process Makes a Difference

Whole food vitamins and supplements are produced through a unique process of culturing and fermentation, which makes the nutrients more easily digestible. This process also creates even more nutrients, probiotics, and enzymes to benefit the body. Many isolated vitamin supplements or synthetic vitamins actually pull nutrients from the body while being processed. These may also cause your body to store unprocessed nutrients that cannot be absorbed properly (sometimes at toxic levels), or the unprocessed nutrients may simply be passed out of the body unused.

Because whole food vitamins are actually whole foods, the body absorbs and digests them as real food. You can even take whole food supplements on an empty stomach!

Some reliable brand names to look for when shopping for whole food vitamins or organic vitamins include Garden of Life, Every Man, Every Woman, and New Chapter. Garden of Life has also released a completely raw, 100 percent active (cultured) vegan vitamin called Vitamin Code. These and many other whole food organic vitamins and supplements are readily available on the Web so you can get started right away to give your body the nutrients it needs for optimal health!
